Rock and Baul

 In my humble opinion if you keep aside the nature of rendition of Rock and Baul songs the essence and the soul of Rock and Baul/Folk is the same. Both the formats are born out of intense passion and shoot straight from the heart. It forces us to ask questions and challenge the status quo. It shakes us up, makes us sway and rock and induces trance. It believes in no caste, creed, religion or anything that separates one human being from the other.. True rock stars are bauls at heart and bauls are rockstars in their own right.. there is no disconnect here. Both talk of the philosophy of our life and it various facets.  I also have an issue with the way one defines and categorizes Rock today.. one has to understand that true Rock is much more than just distortion pedals and gut wrenching vocals, it is a medium of change and like religion its the way to practice your philosophy, what you say is more important than how you say it. Unfortunately most so called Rock songs today have no philosophy, just a lot of noise to which an entire alcohol and weed infused generation mindlessly head bang and feel part of the in crowd. You will agree that Rock and Roll was born because a few people did not want to be part of the "in" crowd.
